republicans and the party establishment including those in congress and about candidates like michele bachmann or rick perry and the long history of the gifted remarks. it seemed to me that many of them, that is the republican establishment, was simply a phrase to condemn such rhetoric to speak in favor of social tolerance. b's leaders were not just uninformed about gay issues i think but frankly scared to death of any discussion of them and i think that plays into the hands of organized bigotry. what most analysts expected was going to be another election about economic issues and replacing much of the legislation passed by the obama administration like the election in 2010, was suddenly hijacked or the so-called values voters crowds and social issues were suddenly at the top of the republican list of priorities often getting the lion's share of attention during those endless number of debates and 2011. such as when a gay servicemember when asked a question during one of the republican debates. so in spite of the fact that in the race there were pro-gay writes candidates like congressman ron

polish. this was the lead. if you remember when michelle bachmann was running there were photographs of the fat -- french nails if it was appropriate the way they were shaped. then nancy pelosi when she first became speaker there resists series of snapshots wearing pearls. nobody has ever done six types of necktie is. but what you wear can send a message but four men there quickly pushed aside. more casual or uptight but dianne feinstein has fine fashion taste early in her career headed tough time to get people to think she had any understanding of the problems of sand princess go because her attire screamed she was from a wealthy part of the city. heard tire was sending a message. >> what are the other key differences women face other than men? >> there are so many. jobs. todd has worked closely with michele bachmann, and together them and a few others have really pushed things that would really harm missouri families. on march 8th of 2011, todd akin said i don't like social security, i think it's a bad investment. he's gone on in this campaign to delineate what is the triple whammy to social security. not only does he not like it, he would privatize it, put it on the roller coaster of wall street. he would raise the retirement age, and he would lower the benefit. on august 18th of 2011, he said medicare was unconstitutional. and since that time he has, in fact, voted several times to voucherrize medicare, to turn seniors over to private insurance companies, to arm wrestle with them for coverage and whether their claims will be paid and make them go in their pocket for more than $6,000 a year. i believe we can lower the deficit and debt, but we will not do it, we should not do it, we cannot do it at the expense of these important programs for seniors. >> moderator: jonathan dine. dine: want to give a big chance for the missouri press associatio
